Networking can be a difficult skill to master for new dentists. There are so many different platforms, professional trade shows, and industry events that it can quickly get overwhelming. Don’t be discouraged, though, networking can be fun and open up brand new doors for you and your business!

Old School Networking for New Dental Grads: Start with the Basics

Professional networking events are a great way to establish connections with your peers.

Dentists have many opportunities to network, but you should start with designing and creating an eye-catching, professional business card. Industry events such as trade shows are a great place to begin handing them out and introducing yourself to like-minded professionals.

Don’t forget - every connection is an opportunity!

The New Wave of Dental Networking: Social Media

Many dentists don’t utilize the power of social media for their business, despite most of them being active on their own personal pages.

You should have a professional presence on every major social media platform, including LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. And hey, some new dentists are even making waves on TikTok - you could be the next big thing!

Social media has a bit of a learning curve, but you can build your reputation and gain a ton of new leads just by remaining active and engaging with your audience.

The more relatable you can be, the better; people tend to have a phobia of dentists that is lessened by humanizing the profession. Have fun, showcase your dance moves (or if that’s not your thing, post some informational videos), and have your staff let loose. Social media is the perfect way to show some personality, in a fun, professional way.
